Description

This presentation describes data gathered in the Bolivian Andes on 389 households about potato production activities, revenues, expenses, and environmental and gender issues. Crop productivity has been declining because of soil erosion on the steep slopes of the Andes and because of limited financial resources and access to agricultural supplies. This study aims to understand the linkages between environmental risk, risk management strategies, and technical efficiency with potato production. The collected data suggests that by using risk mitigation techniques and environmental diversification, potato production has the potential to increase in these areas.
