Overview
The CARBON project is working to improve rangeland management, mitigate climate change, improve pastoralist livelihoods, and provide skills and training to young scientists by developing participatory tools for evaluating land health, assessing its potential for degradation and predicting where management actions will increase carbon
sequestration, ecosystem functions, and forage production in North Kenya.
Objectives
1. Develop protocol for assessing current land health and site potential 2. Determine risks of carbon loss and potential for recovery 3. Quantify the potential of ''bomas'' for carbon 4. Sequestration and landscape rehabilitation 5. Test cost-effectiveness of rehabilitation at different sites
