Description

Abstract: While land users directly manage natural resources, decisions made at local, provincial, national, regional, and global levels directly and indirectly influence agriculture and natural resource management. Relationships and perceptions among different stakeholder groups within and among each of these levels are important to informed decision making that can influence our natural resource base and the future of sustainable agriculture. SANREM has been fortunate enough to play a role in several fora that have provided a venue for the issues and opportunities of divergent voices related to sustainable agriculture and natural resources management to be shared and exchanged. These include global electronic conferences, electronic discussions, and face-to-face multistakeholder dialogues. Although clearly not a comprehensive study, the purpose of this paper is to draw on key ideas that have emerged from these fora to provide insights into the SANREM Phase III planning process.
