Description

Poster. Description: Organic agriculture is strongly promoted under the Organic Agriculture Act of 2010. It includes all agricultural systems that promote the ecologically sound, socially acceptable, economically viable and technically feasible production of food and fibers. It is a means of dramatically reducing external inputs by refraining from the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Vermicomposting is the process of preparing compost form organic wastes with the help of earthworms, the African night Crawler (Eudrilus eugeniae). It is widely promoted to provide cheap source of organic fertilzer particularly to smallholders, to encourage farm nutrient cycling, to enhance better household and community solid wastes management as well as achieving sustainable agriculture. but there were only few researches have been done to understand the nutrients availability of different substrate materials that ar locally available as well as the nutrients dynamics.Previous works claimed that vermicomposting enhances nutrients availability in many folds that are readily available for crop uptake.
