Overview

The BEEF Project was developed to address identified vitamin B-12 deficiencies in infants aged 7 to 12 months in a low-income area of Guatamala City. Conclusions of the BEEF project indicated that food-based interventions to improve maternal and infant B-12 supplementation must be done during pregnancy and/or lactation to prevent adverse effects of deficiency in infants.
