Overview

This projects’ goals include: Improve and stabilize rainfed sorghum and millet crop yields by studies of sustainable systems for improving rain and soil-water use efficiency through manipulation of the crop/cropping system x cultural practice x soil interrelationships. Specifically: a) Evaluate on-farm rainfall runoff management systems. b) Evaluate crop response to improved tillage technology across various rainfall conditions and soil types. c) Evaluate the effects of manure and crop residue management on crop yields and stability over seasons and sites. Collaborate and support relevant national research efforts to improve and stabilize rainfed sorghum and millet crop yields, specifically, sorghum stand establishment, crop rotations, and climatic data analysis.
