Description

This presentation shows explains what the Advocacy coalition framework is and why and how it was conceived. It shows two examples of research using this framework to look at the mechanisms by which actors at different levels and sectors come together to build coalitions: the first is a research looking at coalition building around two resource management issues-management in the Ecuadorian Andes. The second is a case in which coalition building happened around mining issues in the Peruvian Central highlands. The different groups that form around relevant issues are identified, and the interaction that occurs between them when they try to influence decisions is examined.
