Overview

Farmer open days were conducted at each of the four research sites in Iganga and Kumi Districts. Each field day was conducted in collaboration with farmers who were active participants in IPM CRSP field trials, cooperating extension agents and research scientists. Since the field days were open, farmers who had not participated in the past with IPM CRSP activities were also invited.

Objectives

The main objective of the field days was to provide information and results about the trials to the farmers.

Outcomes

A total of 144 farmers participated in these field days with 6 extension agents, 6 NARO research scientists and 2 scientists and 2 graduate students from Makerere University. Fact sheets on maize stalk borer and bean fly prepared by Drs. Willson and Kyamanywa were distributed to farmers and extension agents in both districts.
