A poster presented at the 2012 Global Pulse Researchers Meeting, Kigali, Rwanda- “Transforming Grain-Legume Systems to Enhance Nutrition and Livelihoods”. Abstract: After the peace process in 2002, Angola is still reconstructing different sectors of the economy, among which agriculture and natural resources are the cornerstone of economic development. Knowledge on the marketing system in General is one of the prerequisites to ensure stable and remunerative environment for market development. Therefore, the present study identifies marketing channels and constraints in common bean marketing in Huambo, Angola. Rapid market appraisals are combined with secondary data and focus group interviews. The study identifies 3 key agents: itinerant traders, local wholesale traders and local retailers. Constraints to common bean market growth that reduce benefits or incentives in offer and demand mechanism were identified in this study. Access to market areas is difficult and reduced availability of transport; this impedes wholesale traders
