Description

In 2007, the AquaFish CRSP partnered with the USAID Kenya Business Development Services program in a marketing assistance project designed to teach farmers how to form cluster enterprises and raise and market catfish fingerlings as baitfish to fisherman. One of four clusters that was created, the Bidii Fish Farmers Association (FFA) has successfully grown from 10 members to 25 and has regularly been selling catfish fingerlings to baitfish dealers since May 2008. Bidii’s success has recently led to a partnership with the Women in Fishing Industry Project (EIFIP), an organization that seeks to engage women in aquaculture and identify income generating activities.
