Overview
The goal of this proposal is to combine the improved nutritional grain quality sorghum with high levels of grain mold resistance.
Objectives
1. Evaluate the combinability of the high protein digestible trait with grain mold resistance. 2. Identify QTLs regulating mold resistance and high grain protein digestibility. 3. Link QTLs controlling mold resistance to changes in the expression of genes that contribute to mold resistance for future utilization in genetically engineering improved resistance to grain mold. 4. Test the physical and functional properties of highly digestibility sorghums in food and feed products.
