Description

INTSORMIL has supported research in Central American since 1981, focusing primarily on El Salvador and Nicaragua, and is now expanding its research and technology transfer activities. Most sorghum in Central America is produced by resource-poor smallholder farmers, and the collaborative INTSORMIL-CENTA program is focusing on breeding improved high yield varieties and the transfer of technologies to such small-holder farmers. Scientists hope to mirror the successes that they have achieved in El Salvador and Nicaragua in other countries throughout Central America.
